Wording

A little bit of geek humor between me, another copyeditor and a passing tech who overheard the conversation…

************

Me: “There. I’ve gotten everything set up, so we should be good to go.”

Mya: “You’re assuming that nothing will go wrong.”

Me: “No no, I covered myself. I said ‘nothing SHOULD go wrong’ … I didn’t say ‘nothing WILL go wrong.’ I learned a long time ago not to speak in absolutes.”

Tech: “You’ve worked in IT, haven’t you?”
